BUSINESS ANALYSTS

SimonComputing is dedicated to simplifying the process of building software. We specialize in developing technically challenging Java and C++ based applications, and serve clients in the public and private sectors. Our projects support the mission of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

We have an immediate need for two Business Analysts. This position requires a full background investigation and US citizenship. Active DHS background investigation is highly desired.

Position Description:

The Business Analyst contributes to developing innovative solutions to complex technical and organizational problems. The Analyst will analyze business needs, help identify problems and propose solutions to improve the client's business efficiency and productivity. The analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining requirements documentation that can be used to fully brief new project team members including developers, testers and analysts. The Analyst will be considered an expert on the project within the organization. Work may be performed without appreciable direction, and the Analyst exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to each assignment. Generally, the Analyst will:

• Work with the customer to examine existing business models and data flows, propose appropriate IT solutions, and document the product/service requirements to ensure the client's needs are met;
• Work with programmers, engineers (systems and electrical), and database administrators to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction;
• Contribute to application design (UI), development, testing and installation, as required;
• Remain flexible to work as part of structured team led by a Project Manager and/or Technical Lead, or independently on individual assignments with government stakeholders.
• Serve as a consultant to SimonComputing management on matters pertaining to policies, plans and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree + 4 years experience
• Excellent communication skills, including oral, written and presentation;
• Experience serving as a successful liaison to clients on varied projects;
• Clear understanding of client-server concepts, web application design, and the operational logic of proposed system/solution capabilities without necessarily possessing the ability to program;
• Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC, with emphasis on requirements gathering;
• Technical abilities to include UNIX (Solaris, Linux), Windows XP

Other Desired Experience:

• Experience providing similar services to the Federal government;
• Understanding service oriented architecture;
